-- Guest Experience: Jeff Van Wart --Tim,I would love to tell you that last year was the best hunting we have had at Deer Creek, but it was as great as every year has been since my first visit over 5 years ago. The quality of the upland game has been consistently excellent from year to year. The birds are very challenging and the game plentiful. The addition of the Mallard hunts has been phenomenal. I live in one of the best waterfowl wintering areas in the country and rarely experience the hot-barreled action of the duck hunts at Deer Creek. The quality of your hunting staff and their preservation of high hunting and safety standards has made Deer Creek not only a great place for the experienced hunter, but also younger hunters as well. My son, Jay, and my nephews, William and Ramsey, have learned a lot about hunting safety on their annual trips to Deer Creek. They also have developed a fondness for your retrievers and pointers and have learned how to work with a good dog. I would be remiss if I did not mention one of the best things about Deer Creek. The mouthwatering southern fare is beyond reproach. Trying to diet at Deer Creek is neither desirable nor possible. The homemade bread, fried quail, fresh vegetables, and exquisite desserts are irresistible. I have had the pleasure of meeting other guests and have never heard anything but praise about the culinary magic that goes on in the kitchen. Deer Creek, because of your hospitality, provides a warmness that is present in very few places away from home. This feeling of homeliness is the element, in addition to the quality of the operation that makes Deer Creek a special place. I am fortunate to hunt all over the world and there is no place that I am as sure that I will return to as Deer Creek Lodge. My son says it best, “Going to Deer Creek is the highlight of my year. I look forward to my time at Deer Creek more than Christmas!” Thanks again, Can’t wait till next season!!
Sincerely, Jeff Van Wart
